Spam bots

Post by Anette on Thu Nov 24, 2011 12:15 am

I know sometimes a bot joins and posts random things, which is annoying, but it is even more annoying that the same 4 people decides to make a lot of posts writting to that person also.

If you see a bot just wait for me or mnk to remove him, and don't post, cause it takes a lot longer to clean.

So this is the only warning (at least for these people, I am sure you know who u are), next time there is a bot, and someone posts back I will remove your posting privileges for a week.

If you feel the need to spam, make a spamtopic in offtopic and go nuts, but I am tired of having to clean after the same few people.

Fair enough. But wouldn't it be easier if you made mandatory admin confirmation to activate an account?

We had that for a while, and it is not so much extra work, just doesn't seem necessary as our bots doesn't come very often. Plus in this case, I wouldn't have been able to tell if it was a bot or not. Normally bots fill out everything in their profile and this one hadn't. If we do get overrun by bots at one point, I do have an idea on how to fix it, but as it is now is easier to just remove the random bot every 2 months or so.

Ye I said 4 ppl, but was just a number as I am not sure if it was 4 or 6, who posted to the bots. If you want the names, I will go look, but I don't see the point in it, as I am sure they know who they are. I honestly don't get what u are crying about.
